What is an essential oil? Are they just a trendy word people are using or are their actual benefits? Are all essential oils made the same? Do they work or is it a placebo effect? And what essential oil company is the absolute best?

When I first heard about essential oils it was before they become mainstream and during a time in my life that I was desperate for something- anything really that could help me. I was constantly tired, diagnosed with a myriad of issues and had chronic pain.

To top it all off my kids were always sick and I lived In fear of the dreaded ER (because my children couldn’t get sick like a normal person, with advance notice on a week day where I could call and set up an appointment with the Dr.) I lived in fear of having to go, waiting for 4hrs in the waiting room while we contracted 50000 other diseases just sitting there, all to have some over worked Dr tell me their was noting they could do because this one had to “ride it out” or it was “just a virus” or my child was “too young for antibiotics” or my favorite “we can’t give your child another amoxicillin because his immune system is shot”

Mostly I was out of options and out of hope. Enters doTERRA essential oils! And after I did some heavy research (because we research things that are naturally occurring from the earth and have been around since the beginning of time but unquestionably take OTC and drink mystery drinks that are neon colors and contain “helpful benefits” without batting an eye) huge eye roll here. This was me 5 years ago. Flash forward to today- we use essential oils for EVERYTHING and my body has healed itself and my kids rarely get sick and when they do I whip out an oil or two rather than wasting time rushing off to the ER.
